    • Red pulp: sinuses (littoral cell lining), cords (macrophages/monocytes, reticular cells)
    • RES system: capillary -> cord -> sinus -> venules
  • White pulp

    • follicles have malpighian corpuscles
    • prominent marginal zone (pale)
    • everything else same as lymph node
  • Red pulp

    • RBC: anisopoik (hemoglobinopathy, membrane dz, hemolysis)
    • WBC: leukemia, histiocytic (see lymph node), mastocytosis
    • vascular: littoral cell angioma, Kaposi, angiosarcoma
    • extramedullary hematopoiesis
    • other: trauma, congestion, storage dz, metastasis
