Histology- chronic features: basal cell hyperplasia, papilla elongation, eosinophils
- basal cell hyperplasia (> 15% of mucosa)
- papilla elongation (> 60% of mucosa)
- eosinophils (distal esophagus, < 8 eos per 40x field)
- acute features: edema, necrosis, inflammation
- severe features: ulcer, fibrosis
