  • Clinical

    • metastasis common at diagnosis
    • prognosis in between anaplastic and differentiated thyroid cancers
    • can not definitely diagnose based on FNA

  • Cytology

    • hypercellular (nests, cords, solid), can have some microfollicles
    • monomorphic, some hyperchromasia, but pleomorphism is minimal
    • mitosis, necrosis
    • can have features of papillary follicular or Hurthle cell carcinoma

  • Stains

    • positive TTF1, PAX8
