    • associations: long term hemodialysis
  • Gross

    • small
    • well circumscribed
  • Histology

    • architecture: papillary, tubular, tubulopapillary
    • benign cytology, may have nuclear grooves
    • type 1: single layer small cells with scant cytoplasm
    • type 2: pseudostratified, eosinophilic cytoplasm
    • psammoma bodies, foamy macrophages
  • Molecular

    • y loss
    • trisomy 7 and 17
