    • age: young adults
    • location
      • subcutaneous, rarely intramuscular
      • most commonly upper extremity, trunk, head and neck
    • onset: 1-2 months of rapid growth
    • size: < 2-5 cm
  • Rare types

    • intravascular fasciitis
      • age < 30
      • small-medium vessels
      • mostly veins
    • cranial fasciitis
      • age < 2
    • intramuscular fasciitis
  • Histology

    • border: focally infiltrative, unencapsulated
    • spindle cells
    • extravasated RBCs, inflammatory cells
    • fibromyxoid stroma, may have central cystic change
    • mitosis but no atypia
    • can have giant cells
  • Stains

    • actin+ (SMA, MSA)
    • desmin negative
    • CD68 stains giant cells
    • CK-, S100-
