Definitions- nephroblastomatosis = numerous nephrogenic rests
Clinical- 25-40% of Wilms
- 1% of infants
Histology- blastemal cells and immature cells/tubules within native kidney
- location
- perilobar: periphery of renal lobe, sharply circumscribed
- intralobar: center of lobe, poorly circumscribed
- may be dormant, regress (scarring, obsolescent rest), or proliferate (looks like Wilms)
- Wilms can develope within nephrogenic rest (expansile mass with pseudocapsule)
