Clinical- primary thyroid lymphoma makes 5% of thyroid cancer
- typically elderly women with Hashimotos
- rapidly enlarging nodule
Cytology- monomorphic lymphoid cell population
- MZL: small lymphoid cells (centrocytes, plasma cells, monocytoid B cells) interspersed with large lymphoid cells
- DLBCL: large lymphoid cells (centroblasts, immunoblasts, Burkitt-like cells)
- mixed
Ddx- Hashimoto thyroiditis: looks similar, can also contain clonal B cells, but clinically no mass
