Histology- intraepithelial lymphocytes
Signout- Suspect reflux: Squamous mucosa with patchy increase in intraepithelial lymphocytes and reactive changes, suggestive of gastroesophageal reflux
- Not sure:
- increased intraepithelial lymphocytes in the esophagus is a nonspecific finding
- given the presence of associated neutrophils and rare eosinophils, severe reflux is a possibility
- the differential includes infection, allergy or adverse drug reaction, and idiopathic lymphocytic esophagitis
