    • smooth muscle cells
    • well differentiated, no atypia, few mitosis
    • mitosis cutoffs
      • limb and male intraabdominal: < 1 per 50 hpf
      • female intrabdominal and retroperitoneal: up to 5 per 50 hpf

  • Stains

    • positive: SMA, desmin, h-caldesmon
    • negative: S100
    • ER/PR and WT1 positive in female abdominal, retroperitoneal, inguinal
