- location: splenic flexure, descending colon, sigmoid
- imaging
- thumbprinting on barium enema
- target lesions on CT
Gross- ulcers
- can have pseudomembranes
- can have stricture
Histology- superfical mucosal necrosis
- crypt atrophy, regenerative atypia
- hyalinized lamina propria
- lack of prominent inflammation
Stains- trichrome stains lamina propria hyaline
Ddx- C difficile
- no lamina propria hyaline or trichrome staining
- no crypt atrophy
