    • Hyperplasia = more than 1:1 gland:stroma ratio
    • simple vs complex
    • atypia
      • polarity loss
      • nuclear atypia: more rounded, membrane irregularity, prominent nucleoli
      • almost always focal

  • WHO categories

      • hyperplasia without atypia
        • encompasses simple/complex hyperplasia without atypia (old classification)
        • minimal risk of coexistant or progression to cancer
      • atypical hyperplasia = EIN
        • encompasses simple/complex hyperplasia with atypia (old classification)
        • significant risk of coexistant (30%) or progression (30x) to cancer
