  • Histology

    • prominent hemorrhage, necrosis, and vascular invasion
    • tumor cells are at periphery of hemorrhage
    • biphasic atypical trophoblasts without villi
      • syncytiotrophoblasts (syncytial clusters)
      • cytotrophoblasts and intermediate trophoblasts (single cells)
  • Stains

    • CK+
    • syncytiotrophoblast: strong hCG, weak hPL
    • intermediate trophoblast: weak hCG, strong hPL
  • Ddx
