- cuboidal to tall columnar lining
- intestinal type adenocarcinoma
- type 1: resembles colonic adenocarcinoma
- tubular glands
- pseudostratified columnar lining
- ovoid to elongated nuclei
- type 2: predominantly goblet cells
- stains: CDX2, MUC2, CEA, CK20
- foveolar type adenocarcinoma
- tall columnar cells
- basal nuclei
- abundant mucin cytoplasm
- stains: MUC5A
- mucinous adenocarcinoma
- > 50% tumors extracellular mucin by convention
- stains: CK, CEA
- ddx: mucocele
- signet ring carcinoma
- clear cell adenocarcinoma
- hepatoid adenocarcinoma
