  • Clinical

    • papule on sun damaged skin
    • elderly
    • considered low grade dysplasia

  • Histology

    • crowding, disorder, atypia
    • stems upward from basal layer, but doesn't make it CIS
    • solar elastosis usually present
    • can have parakeratosis, hyperkeratosis, acantholysis, lichenoid, pigmentation

  • Variants

    • hypertrophic AK (hyperkeratosis, acanthosis, horn)
    • atrophic AK
    • lichenoid AK
    • pigmented AK
    • Bowenoid AK
    • follicular AK
    • actinic cheilitis (lip)
    • premalignant leukoplakia (white plaque in mouth)
