      • endemic african: middle-aged HIV-negative adults and children, extremities
      • iatrogenic: trasplant pts, lower legs
      • AIDS: face, genitalia, lower legs, visceral involvement
  • Histology

    • patch stage: vascular proliferation
    • plaque stage: additional inflammation, extravasated RBCs
    • nodular stage: nodules and fascicles of spindle cells, slits with RBCs, hyaline globules
  • Stains

    • positive: HHV8, CD34, CD31
